It's not only about multiple sources of income......

It's been a while since I shared anything so now just feels like a good time.

The point of having a business of your own is the freedom it gives you as well as the options to decide who you want to work with and how you want to develop and earn those extra income streams. I love the diversity that has developed as the technology industry develops. Do you remember when the internet was first introduced to the world as a possibility and future means of communicating with the world? How many of you (myself include) really understood just how enormous this would become?

There are just so many options open to us these days - from on line marketing and sales, to coaching and mentoring, to just helping support others with their dreams. Sometimes it's not always about the money but about believing in your dream and wanting to share it with the world. Or believing in someone's else dream and helping them to share it with the world. Sometimes there's more satisfaction in helping others than in the actual amount of money you earn in doing so. However, remember that it's like throwing a rock into the water and creating all those ripples - you never know when something you help promote might lead to someone having a look at you and what it is you are doing. So it's not necessarily about the instant gratification. Sometimes it's like fishing - you throw a line out and see what nibbles you get.

On this note I do want to share with you two such endeavours that I am helping friends to promote. Perhaps you could take a minute to look at them as they may be of interest to you or someone you know. Please feel free to share as you see fit.

Love Notes by Suzanne

First let me introduce you to Love Notes - it's a beautiful way to send encouraging and inspiring words to all the people who are important to you.

Love Notes: The I am Special-You are Special movement evolved when Suzanne realized that the very messages of love and empowerment she had been receiving for years while meditating were exactly what others needed to hear. These loving messages help us feel loved for exactly who we are. We are perfect and we are special and we never need to feel alone again. Who do you know that could benefit from these gentle and loving reminders?

Another project which I feel very strongly about and agree is a very well thought of and necessary app for people traveling throughout Mexico is called ExPat911.

Here's is a great explanation of this app:

"We decided to make a service to help our fellow Expats with reporting crimes and emergencies. This company was created by two partners who share a combined 45 years of living in all parts of Mexico. We also share a combined 25 years of online experience running a major network dedicated to US Veterans. It was an easy decision to apply this experience to something that would benefit our fellow brothers and sisters who also enjoy living abroad in the great country of Mexico.

Unfortunately, many of our Expats have not been able to break the language barrier. Imagine being in a life threatening emergency situation, and trying to speak to 911 in Mexico. Would you feel comfortable explaining all of your symptoms or explaining about a crime that is being committed in your home? After speaking to many of our fellow Expats, we realized that a service like this was 100% necessary. So we have decided to create ExPat911.

The idea is simple…

When you report a crime or emergency using our app, you will always get a native English speaking operator. We also have people on staff who speak Spanish as their native language. So while you are reporting your emergency to the English speaking operator, someone else will be reporting that emergency on your behalf in perfect Spanish at the exact same time. This will ensure that all of the information is given in a timely manner when seconds could be the difference between life and death."

These are two great ideas that I am happy to help promote. Please have a look and share the links to those who would benefit from them.

Time for fun!

Time for fun! Do you have it? Can you afford it?

You all have dreams and desires - things you want to own; things you want to do; things you want to see and experience! How many of these things have you managed to accomplish? Are you waiting until the time is right; until you have enough money? Until you can get enough time off work to give you enough time to do what it is you want?

Do you find that you are always saying one day; or when I'm retired; or maybe next year? Aren't you tired of having to put off all those things you desire? What can you do to change this? Do you need to change your mindset? Do you need to just decide that now is the time? Do you need to ask for additional time off work? Do you need to budget differently or create more income to put aside for your dreams? These are all important questions that you must ask yourself and be willing to take the steps necessary so that you don't have to wait for some day. How often have you heard about that co-worker or friend who said one day or when I'm retired, then the next thing you know they had a major heart attack or were in a car accident and suddenly there are no more some days left for them.

Often you say when you're retired, but you know what, in this economy it seems to be harder and harder for people to be able to afford to retire - so will it ever come? Also, as you age you get more aches and pains so although the plan sounded great when you were thinking about it when you were young, suddenly when retirement comes and you now have the time to do it, you just don't feel the same way you did years before when you were dreaming of this day. Suddenly that wonderful dream is not quite as doable because our bodies have aged and maybe you're not as limber as you used to be. Maybe the old knees or hips just aren't what they used to be any more so suddenly that hiking or biking trip is more challenging now than when you were first dreaming of it.

The point I'm trying to make today is - please don't wait for some day or retirement or when you have more time or money - please find a way to live your dreams now while you are healthy enough to enjoy them.  If it means restructuring your budgeting then do it - what if you were to quit smoking and everything you were spending on smoking you put into a savings account so once a year you would have a nice lump of money to use. What if you were to talk with your current employer to see if you could change your work week into a 4 day week by adding a bit more work time to your Monday to Thursday schedule to free up your Friday. Then on Friday find some sort of work that you can do just on that day and put all that money aside strictly for that special something you want to buy or the trip you want to take. What if you were to do some online work for a couple hours in the evening or on the weekend to create that extra income. If it's time you need more of then perhaps it's just a matter of looking at your lifestyle and see if you can restructure it in a way that frees you up more - again consider condensing your work week into a 4 day week giving you 3 day weekends to enjoy more excursions.

Do what you need to; do what you can do, to create the circumstances that allow you to begin living your dreams now while you are able to - don't wait for one day because sometimes one day never comes.

Changes - who likes them?

Okay let's jump right into this subject - changes! Who likes them? Most people get quite comfortable in their lives, with the predictability of what's been going on and what will continue to happen. Then you throw a change their way, even a good one, and people go a little crazy. Why is it that change bothers people so much? I think it's because now they have to restructure the way they think and the way they go about things. Personally, I don't think change is always a bad thing. Well, of course it is a bad thing if the change means you just lost your job or maybe a relationship broke up, for at least one person that would be a bad thing. However in the long run, in the future, you may find that this change took you to a better job or a beautiful new person came into your life. But change can also be good. It keeps us from becoming complacent; can you imagine how boring life would be if everything stayed the same forever with no bumps and curves in the road of life.

We recently had a change in our business, the company we're distributors for merged with another company. You can imagine the upheaval this has caused a lot of people. Granted when it was first announced I was skeptical; maybe you could say I was hesitantly optimistic as I believe in the founders of our company and I believe they have our best interests at heart. I really didn't think they would throw us to the dogs. So as word of this merger came forth people were having varied reactions. For my part I just trusted in the leaders, put the message out to the people in my organization and am flowing along to see how it will pan out once the dust settles. There is always a transition period as everything comes together and I think the best course of action is just to stay calm, carry on with your day to day events and have patience. I think this holds true for any situation where a change is occurring - it's going to take time for everything to smooth out, so just try not to get swept up in anyone else's emotional reactions to the situation and reflect only upon yourself. Look at the situation that is underway, look at what was before and what will be in the future; look at how it used to affect you and take steps to understand how it will affect you going forward. Notice the emphasis is looking at how it affects YOU, don't concern yourself with everyone else's drama, your focus needs to be on yourself and the benefits that the change in your life will have on you.

In the heat of the moment it may seem like it is all too much and a really unnecessary change but for some reason the universe conspired to create this change in your life. I believe the best thing to do is embrace it; learn how to make it work best for you and move forward with confidence that there will be good in this change. It just may take a while to understand and see the good but have faith that it is there for you.

Hello everyone I felt that it was time to once again speak from my heart - funny that this decision came to me on Valentine's Day!

As I have told you I am an adventurer, a traveler, an opportunist, a creator and an outside the box thinker. One thing about me personally is I LOVE to help!  Come to me with an idea - as I'm not the one who is so great at coming up with the ideas, and I can often help with the background, brick laying aspects of your idea. I love techie things! So when my sis-in-law, Suzanne, approached me with her vision to empower one million women through a project of love and empowerment I was the first one to say how can I help.  I am quite surprised as we go forth with this about just how much techie stuff she already knows and is showing me.  The beauty of it is that I am able to work with her to do a lot of the social media type stuff to free her up to do more of the in depth, hands on things that always need attention in any business.

So what are we doing now; well you know I am all about working online so, of course, this is another online business. The concept has been in Suzanne's realm of thinking for many, many years and she has kept journals on these "love notes" that come to her. She knows and understands the power of giving love and positive encouragement, which is found in all of her love notes. She has just launched her website to share these words of encouragement with women globally. These notes are geared towards women to give them positive reinforcement of their value as a person, to give encouragement to women who may have self esteem issues and to generally share love with those we care about.

Imagine being able to share these notes every 3 days for an entire year for less than the cost of one cup of coffee!! For me this project is not about the monetary returns but more so about the returns to my soul through the joy and love I am able to help spread throughout the world. Imagine how many lives we will be able to touch with love! That just fills my heart with gratitude.

As you have been reading this blog you may have thought of others who would benefit from this gift, if so I would encourage you to take a minute to look at Suzanne's beautiful website.

Help us to empower 1 million women this year by sharing this blog!
